Erdenebat Bataa is a professor of economics of the Department of Economics at the National University of Mongolia (NUM). Before rejoining the NUM in 2010, he was Senior Research Associate at the Department of Economics, Lancaster University Management School. Earlier, he was ESRC Postdoctoral Fellow and Bank of England/INQUIRE funded Research Associate, both at the Economics Discipline Area of the University of Manchester.

He was a visiting professor at the Korea University, Economic Research Institute for Northeast Asia in Japan, Central Bank of Finland, ad a member of the policy board of the Bank of Mongolia.

His research areas of expertise are applied econometrics, macro and monetary economics. He publishes his papers in Review of Economics and Statistics, Energy Economics, peer-reviewed economics journals listed in Web of Science. Currently, he is working as an editor of Economics: Theory, Practice. His experience as a journal referee includes Journal of Time Series Econometrics, Empirical Economics, and Energy Economics.  

He has rich experience working as a national and international consultant for the Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Economic Development, National Development and Innovation Committee, Bank of Mongolia, Khaan Bank, WB, ADB, Credit Swiss, Manchester Forecasting, Gulf One Investment Bank, EU projects.

He obtained his PhD and MSc in Economics from the University of Manchester, UK, BA and MBA in Finance from the National University of Mongolia.
